The fifth Urban Sustainability R&D Congress themed “Transformative Innovations, Cities of Tomorrow” will focus on the research and deployment of transformative innovations to enable Singapore to be a city of tomorrow.

In the Science of Cities track on 24 July, Professsor Gerhard Schmitt, director of the Singapore-ETH Centre, will be chairing the session “Understanding Integrated Urban Systems through Complexity Science” at 9:00 am.

Associate Professor Dan Friess, Department of Geography, NUS and also co-investigator of the Natural Capital Singapore project.
Dr Hee Limin, Director of research, Centre for Liveable Cities
The congress includes an exhibition, where Cooling Singapore will be showcasing its work on mitigating urban heat island (UHI) effect and improving outdoor thermal comfort. The project, led by the Singapore-ETH Centre, is supported by the Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE) under the National Research Foundation. Partners include the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), TUMCREATE (established by the Technical University of Munich), National University of Singapore, and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
